Some activity from the shower is visible from 23 July to 20 August. The peak of the shower this year is 12-13 of August, after midnight/morning of the 13th for best viewing although some should be seen anytime after the sun sets on the 12th. Peak rates are around 80 per hour, but that would be from a dark sky site.

This shower is caused by our Earth passing through debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle.

To view the shower you should try to get away from light sources. The meteors will originate from the constellation of Perseus (in the North East) but you should lie back and take in a much of the sky as possible, you could see them in any part of the sky.
